The Story Behind Serendipity

Serendipity Grant Writing & Consulting was born out of equal parts heart and necessity. After decades in nonprofit leadership, I saw how many incredible organizations were struggling, not because they lacked vision or commitment, but because they lacked the resources, strategy, and confidence to thrive. I wanted to create a company that would meet them where they are offering personalized attention, professional expertise, and strategic solutions that help them grow. “Serendipity” felt like the perfect name, because the best partnerships often happen by chance, and when they do, they can change everything. What started as a solo practice has evolved into a growing consulting firm with a small, dedicated team. Together, we help nonprofits strengthen grant readiness, train boards, coach executive directors, and design strategies that build sustainability. Serendipity represents not just my career journey, but my calling using my experience to lift others and build capacity for impact.

I’m the Founder and CEO of Serendipity Grant Writing & Consulting. With a Master of Science in Human Services and Nonprofit Management, and more than 30 years of experience in all aspects of nonprofits, from direct service and program development to fundraising, grant writing, and executive leadership I bring a deep, real-world understanding of what organizations need to truly thrive. I specialize in helping human service organizations strengthen their funding, elevate their leadership, and move their missions forward through grant writing, grant readiness, executive consulting, and board development.

My approach blends authentic storytelling, data-driven strategy, and a warm, collaborative partnership. I genuinely love digging into a mission, finding the heart of the story, and helping organizations build strong, sustainable foundations. I’m driven by connection, impact, and the desire to support leaders and teams in doing their best work.

I live at Smith Mountain Lake, VA, and frequently travel to New Jersey, where I grew up and where my roots, and many of the missions closest to my heart, still are.

With over three decades of experience in the business world, I have had the privilege of working with both nonprofits and major corporate organizations such as Tavern on the Green and WWE. This diverse background has equipped me with a wealth of knowledge across various industry sectors, allowing me to approach challenges from multiple perspectives. In my most recent role, I focused on assisting nonprofit organizations with grant research, applications, and narratives, specializing in state, federal, and foundation grants.

Outside of work, I reside in New Jersey with my rescue pup, Angel, and cherish moments spent with my family, particularly my twin nieces. I am working on publishing my memoir and other interests extend to cooking, reading, knitting, and painting, providing me with a creative outlet and a source of relaxation.
